This function of this CIG is to provide education material to members in the field of Quality Control Systems (QCS). QCS are special systems used in the paper industry to measure and control paper properties in two dimensions (cross and machine direction). This CIG has produced a TAPPI publication, “Paper Machine Quality Control Systems Volume I: Measurement Systems and Product Variability” and conducted mini-tutorials on its content. The CIG is working to publish Vol II on QCS Controls.
The Process Control Division CIG’s provide its members with a forum for technical information exchange, continuing education and professional development. The CIG’s mission includes the identification, assessment, and application of state-of-the-art and emerging technologies in its field of interest. It gives its members an opportunity to participate in the development of technology guidelines and practices in the areas of Process Control important to members individually and to help the pulp and paper industry as a whole. These CIG’s may sponsor a variety of education offerings including TAPPI PRESS products and offer networking and problem-solving opportunities.
