Retired from Valmet in 2022 after 43 years of service in various roles: from R&D to Product and Sales Management, Marketing, and Executive Management, in Canada, Finland, and the US. Seyhan received his Ph.D. in Control Eng. from The Univ. of South Carolina.
Published over 200 papers, and made various book contributions including coauthoring Vol I & II of “TAPPI Paper Machine Quality Control Systems Handbook” (2010, 2023). Seyhan has been granted 4 control system patents,
Member of the 2015 Centennial class of TAPPI Fellows, served in the TAPPI Process Control Div. Leadership in different roles including as its Chair 2014-16 and was TAPPI Steering Committee Chair for PaperCon 2018.
As a member of PAPTAC, contributed to the “Theory & Practice of Papermaking courses for 15 years and has been an active member of the CPPA/PAPTAC Process Control Committee. He is a Life member of IEEE and Sigma Xi. Since 2014, he serves on the Board of Finnish American Chamber of Commerce, Southeast. Seyhan is listed in “Who’s Who in Science & Engineering” & “Who’s Who in America”.
In 2005, Seyhan received a presidential medal of honor, the Order of the Lion of Finland (Knight, First Class). He is the recipient of TAPPI's 2024 Gunnar Nicholson Gold Medal Award.
