Emma Smith University of Maine Engineering Division Charles B. Tibbits Memorial Scholarship Emma Smith is a junior at the University of Maine. She is studying Chemical Engineering with the intent to obtain a certificate in Pulp and Paper Management. She is certified as a Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt, a certification which she obtained through the University of Maine in 2019. Emma is a member of UMaine’s TAPPI/PIMA chapter and is active with the university’s AIChE student chapter, even serving a term as the group’s vice president. We congratulate  Madeline LaBouf , a sophomore at  Miami University  for winning a  #PaperandBoard  Division scholarship. Madeline is majoring in  #Chemicalengineering  and minoring in  #PaperEngineering  and  #ProcessControl . In both the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 academic years, she was presented with the Tau Beta Pi "Top Ten in the College of Engineering" award. Madeline is involved as a member of  #TAPPI  and a running club. She is also a research assistant for one of her Paper Science professors. Wallace Layman , a sophomore at North Carolina State University (NCSU), has been awarded the TAPPI Corrugated Division Mitsubishi Scholarship for the 2020-2021 academic year. He is on track to graduate in May 2024 with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Paper Science and Engineering and Chemical Engineering. R. Duane Smith is a process manager-web handling and specialty winding at Davis-Standards, LLC, focusing on machine design and process development.
