Dr. Xuejun Zou, Research Manager, Paper, Packaging & Consumer Products Program at FPInnovations, received his Ph.D. in Chemcical Engineering from McGill University in 1991. He joined FPInnovations (formerly Pulp & Paper Research Institute of Canada) and worked in a number of research areas including paper permanence, paper performance, paper surface treatment and coating, and more recently developing applications for nanocrystalline cellulose and identifying new applications for wood fibres. Xuejun has been active in promoting technical exchanges and R&D collaborations between Canada and China, including playing a leading role in setting up the China-Canada joint research program on expanding the application of high-yield pulps in coated fine papers. He has published over 60 technical papers, holds four patents/trademarks and contributed to three books. He is a member of the Pulp and Paper Technical Association of Canada (PAPTAC) and Technical Association of Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI). He is a board member of SENTINEL - a NSERC University Network focusing on Developing Bioactive Papers (2010-2015) and Lead Scientist representing forestry industry to NSERC Innovative Green Wood Fibre Network (2012-2015)
