Synonym: Picking, holes

Definition: A hole in the sheet, present after creping but not before creping, caused by the sheet trying to go behind the creping doctor blade but then being pulled out by rest of the sheet.  Picking may also result when there is some other defect, such as a stickie,  or other type of hole in the sheet before the doctor blade.  The true indication of picking is a build up or tail on the hole on the  following edge where the fibers previously in the sheet were pushed back or folded back onto the sheet.
